The GED test is split into four independent subject areas. You can take them one at a time — in any order — and each is scored separately on a scale of 100–200. A score of 145+ passes each subject.
Mathematical Reasoning — 115 minutes Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data analysis. A calculator is provided for most of the test.
Reasoning Through Language Arts — 150 minutes Reading comprehension, extended writing, and grammar. Includes a 45-minute essay (Extended Response).
Science — 90 minutes Life science, earth & space science, and physical science. Questions are based on passages and data.
Social Studies — 70 minutes Civics, US history, economics, and geography — all using text, charts, and maps as source material.
